Hotel Marconi Express - Bologna

The modern bathroom and very clean rooms greatly enhanced my stay. The staff's kindness when storing my luggage post-checkout allowed for some last sightseeing.

Liked the hotel, it is little and impeccably clean, has absolutely perfect and quiet location in sketchy area.

Enjoyed the single room with a double bed, felt like we were home. The location of the hotel was very central, short walk to Bologna Centrale train station, the main square and attractions, and a nearby cafe for a coffee and croissant.

This hotel is surprisingly tucked within a converted mix-use building on the first floor, with only 12 rooms. There's a notable lack of outdoor space, and the view from the room was dismal, facing a sad courtyard dominated by a large air conditioning unit. Soundproofing left much to be desired. Even minor noises from the hall were disruptive enough to wake me during the night. The breakfast was a simple sandwich and coffee from a nearby café, not served on site.

I encountered multiple inconveniences. I was surprised by a mandatory city tax that was not disclosed in advance. The key card I received malfunctioned, causing me anxiety about accessing my room late at night, especially since the area felt unsafe for walking alone after dark. The noise from traffic was quite disruptive, affecting my sleep quality, and I was disappointed to find out about a water issue only after I complained.

The room stood out with its gorgeous design and immaculate cleanliness. I loved the modern amenities, especially the efficient air conditioning that kept things comfortable. The location near the train station was convenient for exploring. Staff communication was super helpful that enhanced my stay. The check-out time being only until 10 am felt a bit rushed. Limited reception hours from 8 am to 8 pm were a bit inconvenient for late arrivals. It was surprising to find there wasn't 24/7 staff on-site, even if they were reachable via text. The building's lighting in the stairwell also needs improvement. It felt unnerving walking up in the dark at night. Despite these concerns, the overall ambiance and helpful staff were good.

Ideal for quick stays

Clean, nice and comfortable room, we had a corner room so we really enjoyed having lots of daylight in the morning. Everything was clean without smelling like pure chlorine, and checking in and out was easy and fast.

It wasn't cheap, but still acceptable for a short stay.
